A visit to a Maasai village during your safari is a chance to engage with Maasai culture and traditions. You meet members of the community, tour the village and learn about daily life and customs, with local Maasai guides sharing their history and way of life. The visit costs around US$50 per vehicle, which goes to the community; buying jewellery and crafts is welcome but entirely optional.
Many villages are near the main roads and receive many visitors, and some travellers find the experience feels commercial. We value your feedback, we are open about what to expect, and we are exploring alternatives for guests who want a more authentic experience — just ask us. Come with an open mind.

Stop at a Maasai village on the way between the parks. Your Maasai hosts welcome you, show you their homes and explain their customs, history and daily life. There is time to look at — and, if you like, buy — handmade jewellery and crafts.
