7-Day Kilimanjaro Climb — Machame Route
Our most loved route: great views, the Barranco Wall and a high summit success rate.

The "Coca-Cola route": you sleep in mountain huts with beds, and the slopes are gentle.
Marangu is the only route where you sleep in huts with beds instead of tents. The path is gentle and well made. Our 6-day version adds an extra day at Horombo Hut to help your body get used to the altitude.
Route: Moshi – Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Marangu Gate
A short drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate (1,860 m) and a walk through the rainforest to Mandara Hut. Short walk to Maundi Crater in the afternoon.
Out of the forest and across the moorland with giant groundsels and lobelias.
A short walk up to Zebra Rocks (4,020 m) and back down to rest. This extra day makes a big difference.
Across the "Saddle", a wide high desert between Mawenzi and Kibo, to Kibo Hut.
Start around midnight, reach Gilman's Point at sunrise and Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Walk down to Horombo Hut.
